The uranium mine in St Stephen

ALL EYES are on the UK’S only uranium mine in St Stephen which could provide answers to the clean up of contaminated nuclear sites around the world thanks its “unique geological conditions”.

For the first time arsenic has been found to control uranium contamination at South Terras and prevent it from filtering into rivers and groundwater at the site. 

The discovery could now help in the clean up of radioactive areas like Chernobyl and Fukushima...
