St Dennis pays respects

The Clay Country was well represented in St Dennis for its annual Service of Remembrance.

With an Arctic blast blowing across the village, St Dennis Brass Band led the long procession from the village to St Deny’s Church up on its lofty perch, a former Iron Age fort on Carne Hill.

After an indoor service, led once again by the band, appropriately playing a selection of World War one tunes including, of course, It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, they meandered their way back down visiting their own special poppy planted Flanders Field in the village cemetery, before visiting the school...
