THE results of Newquay’s annual gardening competition have been revealed with a large number of local gardens, allotments and hanging baskets all being commended.

The Newquay in Bloom competition sees local residents and businesses putting their gardening skills to the test to impress the Newquay in Bloom judges.

The Bloom team said they “thoroughly enjoyed” touring all of the entries and talking to the entrants.

Newquay in Bloom’s Lesley Friel said: “Well done to everyone who entered their gardens, hanging baskets, ponds, allotments, etc, in our Gardens’ Competition this year, especially those first-time entries.
The judges thoroughly enjoyed their time talking to you and looking at your lovely gardens in what was superb sunny weather and could really appreciate all the hard work involved.”

The Newquay in Bloom presentation evening will take place on Wednesday, October 10, from 6.30pm at St Michael’s Church.

As well as the presentation of the awards the evening will feature a slideshow of the gardens entered and a short talk by Hetty Ninnis of Newquay Orchard’s horticultural team.
Lesley added: “We do look forward to welcoming you and showcasing our wonderful Newquay gardens.”
